Martha Jones used to have a perfectly normal life. She studied medicine, worked as a student doctor at the Royal Hope Hospital, and mediated arguments between the members of her loving but slightly dysfunctional family. Then one day, she met the Doctor and her life changed. She travelled time and space with him and saw the past, the future, and brand new worlds. After she spent a year walking the Earth to save humanity, she left life with the Doctor behind to care for her traumatised family. She thought that was the end of it, until she got a call from the Unified Intelligence Taskforce, which had received a recommendation from an "impeccable source". They qualified her as a doctor and offered her a job as Medical Officer, which she accepted. She's got a new life, but she still has the Doctor on speed-dial.

Martha is intelligent and sassy, with a quick wit and a sharp tongue. She has a no-nonsense, matter-of-fact attitude towards life, and is good at doing what needs to be done, no matter what the personal cost. She's also a little too stubborn for her own good. She is brave, cool in a crisis and good at giving orders, with something of the air of a soldier. Unlike a soldier, she refuses to carry a gun. Her eyes are wide open to the wonders of the world, which she approaches with eagerness, curiousity, and an analytical bent.

Martha is a short, slender black woman in her mid-twenties. She has long dark hair and big black eyes, and speaks with a London accent. When she's working, she either wears a lab coat or a variation on UNIT's commando uniform - black trousers, black boots, and a black synthetic jacket - with her ID prominently displayed. When she's not working, she dresses in comfortable yet trendy clothes, favouring jeans, jacket, and a nice shirt. She likes to wear heels to make up for her height, big updos, a lot of jewellery, and plenty of eye makeup. She has a tattoo of a butterfly on her right bicep.

Martha Jones is played by ashavah. She comes to outpost_12 some weeks after the end of her time on loan to Torchwood Cardiff, between Torchwood episode 2.08, A Day in the Death, and Doctor Who episode 4.04, The Sontaran Stratagem. The date is early in 2008.
